Same Theme: BRAG POST

2-5nl at Mohegan Sun.

I seem to be posting a lot about nl cash games. This is because I am still unfamiliar with them while the flow of limit hold'em seems to be worn into my brain after 3 years of regular play. I seem to feel intuitively that I am not playing nl correctly. Not that I play limit great, but there aren't as many interesting hands.

Or situations like this one.

I am on my way home to New Hampshire. Stop by at the Sun with 200$ left in my wallet. I make my usual short stack buy into 2-5 and resolveto wait for a real strong spot. While I am waiting, I notice that one guy is all over the place with his bets and he is thoroughly inebriated. I skip my blind and go to the atm and take $ out and come back with a full 500$ buy in.

I post behind and the drunk guy opens for 45$. I see KJs and call. The small blind shoves all in for his last 185 total. The drunk calls, I am not enthusiastic but decide I have great implied odds in the empty side pot.

Flop 6 6 4. Two spades and none of my suit. sigh. We both check.

Turn Jc. Out of the corner of my eye I see the small blind wince at the card. The drunk moves all in, having me covered. I called. River is a deuce. Drunk moans and flashes 10 3. Honestly, I don't remember if he had a flush draw or not, I don't think so because he would have jammed the flop probably. The small blind mucked and said he had a pair, which was probably tens or 9s. How he instantly knew the J had killed him, I have no clue.

I counted the pot at 1185, the largest of my career. I am happy of course, but at the same time rather disappointed that after these years there has been nothing bigger. I don't think I have won any of those 10 way capped mega pots during my occasional shots at 20-40 yet.

He moves all-in into an empty side pot with a hand that can basically beat nothing the SB has? Genius.

The frustrating part was that the trashed guy had a thick role of hundreds on him. After this I had to pipe down while stacking my chips and some guy piped up and told him that he made a bad bet!? He rebought only once more and when he broke a few hands later, he somehow staggered out of the poker room.
