I had red 88 on the cut-off behind two limpers. I limped in and 5 took the flop of Ah Kh J.

Not good, they checked to me so I bet. Ill advised? everyone except the last limper, folded. This guy was a young aggressive player so I put him on a flush or pair-+str8 draw. He would have definitely bet an ace.

Turn was the 5c. check, I bet and he called.

River was the 9s and suprisingly he led out. I didn't think that he could have anything other than a busted draw here so I called.

he said "you got it" and turned over Qh-9h. I said, 'no, you've got it' and mucked my 8s without showing. Everyone thought I was crazy.

Maybe I was, that flop bet didn't look good against 4 people even though they checked and I had a reasonable heart.
