You Tell Me Their Ranges

It's not fashionable to put your opponent on a hand anymore, you put him on a range of hands and then see how your hand fares against that range. But this is subjective and nonspecific. Unless you have pokerstove in your lap, your action is usually the same as if you just picked the hand that you wanted him to have.

I was playing 8/16 limit hold'em at the Bellagio. The table was tight, boring, but pretty dumb at times.

I raised one limper, an experienced gal from Canada and the button cold called. I had 99. Everone else folded as this was Vegas.

Flop came K Jc 3c. She checked, I bet and they both called. My hand does not look very good against their calling range, which may include bigger pairs which have me crushed, and draws which beat me 44% to 55% of the time.

Turn is a J. Doesn't change much for me. She checks and I check and the button checks.

River is the Qc. Completing a lot of their 'range' She led out, I folded and the button called.

Canadian Gal: Ace 7 offsuit

Button, Ace-4 offsuit. And they chop it up

I forget which one had the Ace of clubs. The problem with putting them on a range of hands is that the range I give them often doesn't include the cards they actually have.
