Slow Playing QQ Not a Good Idea

1/2 nl Hold'em at Foxwoods. There is one lagtard at the table getting everyone's attention. He plays about 100% of the hand and usually opens big. He is on my immediate right. I am a fool for not changing seats so he would be on my left so I could check raise him more often.

He posts a straddle. I am utg+2 with QQ. I called 4 people called. He raised to 16. I called. 3 of the limpers called.

Flop 10 10 2, r.

He checks, I checked, all check.

Turn 7. He bet 40, I called. I think he would have bet the flop with a 10. One of the limpers called.

River 3. He bet 100, I called. the turn Caller shoved all in for 320 total. Lag called. I folded.

Turn caller had 77 for 7s full. LAG had A7o.

I am an idiot.

The only thing good was for the rest of the night I started reraising with big cards or big pairs. He'd open for 15 and I would raise to 40. He would check dark and I would bet about 2/3 of the pot. He folded all 3 times that I did that.

What was the thinking behind preflop - Weren't you flat calling the straddle so you could re-raise? Especially when the LAG popped it?

yep. But when he raised I decided the pot wasn't big enough so I'd flop a set.
